Students! Please know the difference between rise, arise, raise, and arouse! Use these words correctly in your essays 🙂
1. rise rose risen rising （vi）
上升；起立；起床；漲價；聳立；應付
The sun rises in the east. 太陽從東方升起。
The housing prices in Taiwan have risen considerably. 台灣的房價格有大幅的上漲。
2. arise arose arisen arising （vi）
發生；起因；起立
A new problem has arisen. 新的問題發生了。
3. raise raised raised raising （vt）
種植；栽培；養育；募捐；提高；舉起；建立
She (Tiger Mom) raised her daughters to become responsible people. 她（虎媽）栽培她的女兒成為負責任的人。
The gentleman raised his hat above his head in respect to the ladies. 這位紳士舉帽向女士們表示敬意。
4. arouse aroused aroused arousing （vt）
提醒；喚起；吸引注意; 激起…的情慾
The man aroused the FBI’s suspicions. 該男子引起了聯邦調查局的懷疑。
