「冰與火之歌：權力遊戲」是由HBO自製的科幻電視影集 (fantasy television series)，本部作品以作家喬治·R·R·馬丁的《冰與火之歌》系列小說作為基礎進行改編 (adapted from George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire)，而整個系列中的第一部小說就名為“權力遊戲”(Game of Thrones)。
故事設置在維斯特洛的七個王國 (the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros)，權力遊戲主要是在講述王國的七個貴族家族 (seven noble houses) 爭奪鐵王座的權力鬥爭 (struggle for control of the Iron Throne)；戰爭掀起了一場腥風血雨 (cause a blood bath)，每個王者都不擇手段地打算贏得勝利 (achieve victory at all costs)。然而，所有人在互相對抗彼此時 (fight against one another)，卻對即將到來的凜冬渾然不知(oblivious to the upcoming winter)，而原本絕種了幾千年的一個古老的不死生物 (ancient undead)，也開始一步一步地走向人類 (march toward mankind step by step)。
