好萊塢製片人哈維•韋恩斯坦 (Harvey Weinstein) 被媒體爆出 (was exposed by the media) 性騷擾醜聞之後 (sexual harassment scandal)，好萊塢女星安吉麗娜•茱莉 (Angelina Jolie) 和奧斯卡影后格溫妮絲•帕特羅(Gwyneth Paltrow) 也加入了指控者的行列 (joined the list of accusers)。隨後紙牌屋男星奇雲史柏西 (Kevin Spacey)、金球獎最佳男主角德斯汀荷夫曼 (Dustin Hoffman)、等等也陸續被指控。就連也矽谷科技圈 (Silicon Valley) 也不免疫 (not immune)，多位矽谷總經理和創辦人早在7月中就捲入風暴。
美國揭露性騷擾運動 (anti-sexual harassment movement)「我也是」(#MeToo) 甚至燃燒到國會山 (Capitol Hill)，阿拉巴馬州參議院補選候選人穆爾(Roy Moore)被多為女性指控穆爾年輕時曾對她們進行過性騷擾或性侵(sexually harassed or assaulted them)，並利用自己的權力地位威脅她們 (use his authority/position of power to threaten them to ) 保持沉默(remain silent）。民主黨眾議員科尼爾斯 (John Conyers) 被也指性騷擾，已辭去司法委員會席位 (resigned from/stepped down from the House Judiciary Committee) ， 兩者都否認指控 (denied allegations)。

美國全國廣播公司 (National Broadcasting Corporation) 和華爾街日報(Wall Street Journal) 聯合進行的最新民調的結果。美國職場中，接近一半女性 (close to half/nearly half of all women) 在工作場所遭遇過性騷擾(experienced sexual harassment in the workplace)，44％的女性受訪者中表示在名人涉嫌性侵案接洽曝光後，她們現在願意公開說出自己的經歷（willing to share their experiences with the public)。與此同時，77％的男性表示，如果看見一名女性受到不公正對待 (witness unfair treatment)，他們現在更願意公開說出來 (willing to step up and speak up against) 。
